Originally created in 2004 to foster a caring and wholesome community for women and children who are victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, the Joyful Heart Foundation is now bigger and stronger than ever. Its founder, Hollywood actress Mariska Hargitay, aims to help survivors of these under-recognized societal problems to lead better lives through empowerment, encouragement, and education. The former beauty queen formed the organization almost a decade ago when she took the role of Detective Olivia Benson for the hit TV show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. From then on, she has helped thousands of people regain their lives full of hope and dreams.
The Joyful Heart Foundation’s gala event for this year was held last May 9, 2013 at New York’s Cipriani 42nd Street and was sponsored by big-league companies such as Michael Stars Verizon Communications, The Art of Grace, Wolf Films, and Pepsi Cola. Together with the founder, Mariska Hargitay, were fellow celebrities who supported the noble cause including Mary J. Blige, Uma Thurman, Christopher Meloni, Danny Pino, Jemma Kirke, Will Chase, Mary Louise Parker, Glenn Close, Harry Connick Jr., and Julianne Hough.
Julianne Hough was one of the inspiring attendees of the foundation gala. She symbolized strength despite her dark and painful history filled with sexual assault. As the 24-year-old actress narrates, she experienced sexual abuse and violence as a young girl when she studied at the prestigious London dance school, Italia Conti Academy. Just like majority of victims of these unrecognized societal issues, Julianne Hough thought there would be no escape from her haunting past, but with the right amount of support and encouragement she was able to surpass the challenge to face the future without fear and fulfill her dreams. For the foundation’s event, Julianne wore a divine ensemble which consisted of white fit and flare mini dress by Calvin Klein accessorized by a pair of mesmerizing Jacob Arabo Round Brilliant Cut Diamond Stud Earrings with a micro-pave set diamond martini setting. It wasn’t surprising to see other stars who attended the Joyful Heart Foundation Gala wearing glamorous jewelry pieces by the renowned jewelry designer, Jacob Arabo. The beautiful actress, Debra Messing, who graced the gala with former co-star Will Chase was also spotted wearing magnificent pieces of art designed by Jacob & Co. head designer. The Will & Grace star looked gorgeous in her navy blue sleeveless jumpsuit topped off with a jaw-dropping palladium blue sapphire chandelier pendant necklace from the house of Jacob & Co. The handsome piece features over 12 carats of sapphires and more than 5 carats of dazzling diamonds.
The sterling reputation of Jacob & Co. started growing when its founder, Jacob Arabo, first opened shop in New York’s Kaplan Diamond district.
